Improve Alexa rank; make money online

For any of the popular blog or website, majority time of promoters  is spent on making it popular and successful (marketing campaigns). There are several tools available on Internet to judge the popularity of a website, on the basis of:

• Web traffic
• Pay per click
• Page rank
• Web links etc.

Among all, most popular and commonly used ones are -

1. Alexa site rank
2. Google page Rank

Both of the above web ratings have their own bias,  that authors and blogs write in favor and against them regularly. In spite of that, in most of the Internet business (money making opportunities) and online advertisement campaigns these systems are usually considered as one of the important parameter while deciding your price.
In this article, I will be discussing on Alexa site ranking and simple methods which you can use to improve your website ranking. About Alexa rank

In simple language, Alexa Rank is a “site ranking system which ranks a website on the basis of level of web traffic, website receives from the Internet users with Alexa toolbar installed on their browser”.

Get started on Alexa?

Visit Alexa toolbar page and download the Alexa toolbar (it is a freeware available for IE as well as firefox), toolbar displays average of 3 month rank on Alexa. Toolbar helps in adding useful traffic count every time you visit the site, also you are able to locate high ranking website instantly, you can benefit more by adding comment on really active and highly ranked sites.

Top Ways to Increase your Alexa Rank

I had listed some of the tips to improve your Alexa rank on the basis of my experience on TechZee and some of my old website.

1) Quality content- Quality content is the mantra of success and attracts large audience and maintains their revisits. This will also help spreading your links across the web and result in an all round improvement, hence focus on developing quality content for sustainable growth.

2) Install and Set your web page as your homepage- Install Alexa toolbar on as many computers, convince your friends for it and set your web page as homepage on all of the systems You can also try your hands with office computer for the purpose, but I have my own reservations and I have not used that method.

3) Add Alexa rank widget on every web page of your site I had read somewhere, that each click on Alexa widget installed web page counts as a visit even if the visitor does not use the Alexa toolbar, without going into details I have installed the widget and was benefited.

4) Write about Alexa- Webmaster and bloggers love to hear about ways to increase their Alexa rank. When you write about the topic of their interest, they’ll link to you and send you the targeted traffic (i.e. visitors with the toolbar already installed). This will have an instant effect on your Alexa ranking.

5) Members of Webmaster forums have usually toolbar installed on their browser. Spread your link on these forums and when your web address will be active on such forums, you will get great feedbacks, links and quality traffic as well.

6) Get your article stumbled- Digg and Stumble upon usually brings large number of visitors to your website and this will have a positive impact on your Alexa Rank. Although Digg does not work for me but stumble upon add visitors to my site every time, without a fail. (Locate me on Stumble upon, my username is slymcherrypick)

I am confident above methods will work wonders for you, as they have worked for me and I am not a great expert by any means.

TechZee Alexa rank is 2,035,653 on 22 June’09 and updated rank of TechZee.com can be checked here, I have achieved this rank in practically 15 days from start of the blog.
